Velox Kopitiam in Rawang, accidentally found.

I am lost and I need kopitiam food in Rawang

My search for a simple kopitiam to eat lunch in Rawang failed because that kopitiam I found will close in 15 minutes of my arrival. My wife found a cafe but I was not in the mood for another cafe where the food variety is again western fusion and as usual, premium priced. I saw a big sign and I told my wife that we shall see what’s that kopitiam is all about.

Big sign, what’s that?

I saw Kopitiam Velox in Taman Velox. Somehow there were still congratulatory flowers outside the restaurant, so it must be new. Super new. I parked my car and went in without much expectations. Ordered Kopi-O Ais but then I saw their Kopi-Ais with some foam on top and I immediately changed to Kopi-Ais. It did not disappoint and in fact it was surprisingly good.

Parking was easy maybe because it’s already 1:40pm.

Anyway, it was not devoid of people. In fact two stalls my wife went to has already stopped because they have run out of food dee. My wife ordered a Fish Ball Bee Hoon for my son. Yes, it’s good BUT it’s the final bowl. It’s flavourful, it’s just that right mix of milkiness, sweetness of the seafood and a hint of sourness probably from the lime. Briefly, my son nearly finished the whole bowl and he’s just 8 years old. Haha.

The Environment

This kopitiam occupies two shop lots. So, you can see there is a huge space between tables too.

Thai food was good too – PadKra Pow Rice

It’s spicy yeah. So for those who’s not into spicy, skip this. Else, enjoy the spiciness from the cili-padi and lot sof other flavour. Needless to say, you will like it.

More food – Steamed Egg and Okra

Both are nice and okra was fresh too. My daughter and wife shared this.

Overall:

This is a new kopitiam in Rawang. It’s not hot and humid like some kopitiam. There are a lot of stalls. At the very least 20 different stalls. Let me try to remember some of them as below.

Chicken Rice. Wan Tan Mee. Thai Street. Typical Steam Fish and all the usual. Pork Noodle. Prawn Mee. Fish Head Noodle. Braised Pork rice. Curry Noodle. And more. Sorry that I did not jot down all of them. When i go back, I will write once more.

The Verdict:

Worth a visit? Absolutely if you stay in Rawang and loves typical kopitiam food.

Scoreboard:

  • Environment: Not warm at all. High ceiling and lots of fan.
  • Service: Efficient
  • Hygiene: Clean (okay, it’s new yeah)
  • Quality: Good food, Good Choices.
  • Parking: I arrived 140pm. Many car parking slots
  • Price: RM9 per dish typically.
  • Payment: Cash and ePayment
  • Return visit: When in the area lah.
