When Tasty, Speedy and Charity comes together for me. Indoya Restaurant

At first, I planned to have lunch at a local hawker stall near Batu Lanchang Market, but it was too crowded, and there was no parking available. Moreover, many cars were double-parked and waiting for the limited parking space.

As I had an appointment nearby, I decided not to wait in the insane queue for the car park. I drove away to look for other dining options and stumbled upon this hidden gem – Indoya Restaurant. Although the restaurant had only two parking spaces in front, I managed to find a spot due to the late lunch hour.

Before getting the menu, I asked the waiters how long the wait would be, as I was in a rush for my appointment. They were friendly and promptly led me to a table since it was a late lunch hour, and there was no one there. As a result, my order was served promptly.

During my visit, one dish that particularly stood out to me was their signature nasi ayam pandan honey – a crispy fried chicken dish infused with pandan leaf and honey that left me craving for more. I have attached a photo of this delicious dish for you to see.

But Indoya Restaurant is not just about serving delicious food. They also have a commendable donation program that distributes thousands of food packs every month to the homeless and the poor in the Penang Island area. The best part is that the meals prepared for this program are pork-free, making them suitable for people of any race in Malaysia.

For their charity arrangement, Indoya Restaurant prepares meals depending on the budget, and customers can choose to distribute the meals themselves or let the restaurant handle the distribution. They have two package options available: Package A for RM6, which includes Indonesian fried rice or sweet and sour chicken rice with mineral water, and Package B for RM8, which includes creamy salted egg chicken rice, spicy Indonesian ayam penyet honey, signature nasi pandan ayam honey, and crispy ayam goreng rice with mineral water.

In addition to the signature nasi ayam pandan honey, I also had the chance to try their supreme pork chop king rice, which, while a bit over-salted for my taste, was still delicious.

Attached is also a photo of their menu for your reference.

It’s truly heartwarming to see businesses like Indoya Restaurant prioritize social responsibility by giving back to their community through their donation program. I highly recommend visiting Indoya Restaurant not only for their tasty food but also to support their worthy cause.

Our reviews

Overall:

Rating: 3 out of 5.

Service:

Rating: 3 out of 5.

1 star – The service here is like a date with someone who isn’t really serious about you – you’ll be left waiting, disappointed, and wondering why you even bothered showing up.

4 stars – I’m pretty sure the staff wears hazmat suits when they clean. And they clean everything. Twice.

5 stars – This place is so clean, I would eat off the floor. And I have. No shame.

Ambience:

Rating: 3 out of 5.

1 star – The ambience here is like eating in a crowded bus station – loud, chaotic, and not a place you want to linger.
